Exclusive Royal from Ajka
The members of our exclusive Royal series are made with a meticulousness worthy of kings, at the Black Crystal manufactory in Ajka. The series is characterised by elegance, exclusivity and luxury, as the 160 original Swarovski rhinestones decorating the glasses are used as accessories. The special decoration, made by sandblasting, makes it stand out from the everyday world.

In addition to the classic design and the careful cultivation of tradition, Black Crystal's master cutters are also keen to experiment, to creatively reimagine decorations and to design endlessly. This time, we set ourselves a particularly ambitious goal: to create the glass of kings, the Royal. The manufactory has several exclusive ranges, such as the following:
- Exclusive Royal
- Exclusive Lace
Exclusive Royal special grinding process
A special feature of the exclusive Royal is that the decoration is made using two different sanding techniques. The bases and stems of the glasses are polished in the "traditional" way, as is customary with Black Crystal. In contrast, the intricate pattern on the sides, although also hand-blown, is created by a different method, known as sandblasting. The characteristic difference is that in the former, the decoration is embedded in the side of the glass, while in the latter the finished pattern is embossed.
After our master sanders have completed the necessary preparations, they sand the stem and the sole. The glass is then acid etched, giving it its unmistakable shine.
The pattern is then "peeled" from a special foil using a "needle" designed for this purpose, with careful, precise movements. This is applied to the side of the crystal glass, which plays an important role in the design of the pattern.
Once the foil has been applied to all sides of the glass, our master sanders slowly start to "consume" the part not covered by the foil, using a special sandblasting "gun". It is particularly important that the master works with a steady hand! Because if the gun gets closer than 10-15 cm to the crystal, or if it is aimed at a point for too long, etc., the glass can become unusable in a matter of seconds.
Once you've "consumed" the right amount of material, you can see the exclusive Royal pattern. The glass is then acid etched again to give it a nice shine.
Finally, there's one more - ladies' favourite - job to be done on the glass, and that's the application of the 160 Swarovski crystals, which requires a lot of concentration. To keep our cutters within the optimum time frame, as a single Royal set can take several days to complete. Bonding is also a meticulous job requiring a high degree of precision, both because the stones are small and because it is important that the surface is perfectly clean.
