Gresham Palace is the hotel in Hungary that is at the forefront of the world - this short phrase is a more accurate description of the Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace than some fancy adjectives. Whether it's the location, the building, the interiors or the services, Gresham Palace is a generic term for luxury. It's a huge merit to be able to be present with hand-cut crystal glasses in the hotel's everyday life.

The design process

The first step was to plan the decoration. We knew that an existing pattern that many people liked, such as LILIOM, would not appeal to Gresham Palace, as they would want something unique, something "tweaked".

Our first idea was to design a more complex, sophisticated, yet transparent pattern. This is capable of recreating in its atmosphere the spherical ornamentation typical of the Art Nouveau style.
Our first designs, however much creative work they contained, did not win the approval of our clients. We realised that the basic concept was wrong. Although the exterior is dominated by Art Nouveau and rich ornamentation, the hotel's interiors blend a clean modernity with Art Nouveau heritage, and the amenities are explicitly 21st century.
This line of thinking has proved to be much more fruitful. The minimalist design was the perfect working hypothesis, a perfect example of how hand-cut crystal can be a perfect match for a 'clean' modern interior.

The glasses for the Four Seasons Gresham Palace ended up with the so-called "cross-cut line pattern"
the basis of the decoration. For us, the combination of craftsmanship and modern design was a professional challenge and ultimately a success. We sincerely hope that the guests of the KOLLÁZS Brasserie & Bar will enjoy the same experience when they enjoy a delicious drink!
